Fits: the 1.6T Gamma engine: Hyundai Elantra GT Sport, Elantra Sport, Elantra N Line, Veloster Turbo 1 (VT1) and Kia Forte Turbo 1st generation.

This is a custom-order part, built to order with a 2-3 week lead time.

What this is

A hybrid turbocharger upgrade for the Hyundai and Kia 1.6T Gamma engine. The OEM K03-style housing is rebuilt with larger K04-style internals, a "stuffed" turbo with a mechanical, spring-actuated wastegate.

Built by a turbo specialist we work with, then machined, balanced and assembled in Canada. It needs a supporting ECU tune, an FMIC and supporting mods to make its power, around 300 whp, and is not a stand-alone part.

Assembled N75 hybrid turbo for the 1.6T Gamma engine, showing the compressor housing, billet compressor wheel and the mechanical wastegate actuator

Why / Design

Inside is an upgraded billet compressor wheel with an inlet over 51 mm, the largest that fits the cold side, plus upgraded bearings.

Two turbo compressor wheels side by side, the upgraded billet wheel on the right larger than the stock wheel on the left

The larger turbine wheel flows more, so the turbo holds higher boost higher in the rev range, letting the engine run more psi.

Two turbine (exhaust-side) wheels side by side, the upgraded wheel on the right with larger blades than the stock wheel on the left

It mounts in the OEM turbo location and holds boost on a tune. With that tune, supporting mods and the right fuel, such as an ethanol blend or water/methanol injection, it is capable of around 300 whp.

What owners report

One owner reports the car felt strong even before tuning; that is a user claim, and the turbo makes its power on a tune.

FAQ

Does it need a tune?

Yes: a supporting ECU tune, an FMIC and supporting mods. Elantra cars: see our ECU Calibration (Elantra Sport, Elantra GT Sport, N Line). VT1 and Forte cars: see our Tuning Hardware and 1 Tuned Map (2013-2018 Veloster Turbo / Kia Forte).

Mechanical or electric wastegate?

This is the mechanical-wastegate version. For the newer 1.6T with an electronic wastegate, see our HT300 Turbocharger Upgrade for 1.6T (Electric WG).

Which option do I choose?

Elantra owners without a VT1 core choose the COMPLETE CONVERSION. VT1 and Forte owners send in or exchange. Elantra owners with a VT1 core choose Have VT1 Turbo to send in.
