Forge's short shifter cuts the distance the gear lever travels between gears on the i20 N. Rather than a fixed ratio, the throw is adjustable with a 16mm spanner, so the lever can be set anywhere between the standard length and Forge's shortest setting, which takes more than a third out of each shift.
Forge developed it by 3D scanning the car and testing 3D-printed prototypes before machining the production parts in its own shop, and the geometry is worked out so the shift cables bend no more than they do on the standard linkage. It is aimed at fast road and track use, arrives as a complete kit with instructions, and Forge puts fitting at around an hour.
Features
- Adjustable shift throw, set with a 16mm spanner
- Maximum reduction of over 33% per gear shift at the shortest setting
- Shift cable deflection no greater than the OEM arrangement
- Developed from 3D scanning and 3D-printed prototypes, then machined in-house at Forge
- Complete kit - everything needed for the installation is included
- Fitting instructions supplied; Forge quotes around 1 hour to fit
- Intended for track day and fast road use
Fitment
Hyundai i20 N 2021- (1.6).
Does not fit: Machined for the i20 N shift linkage only - it is not the short shifter for an Elantra N, Veloster N or i30 N, and it is a separate part from Forge's FMGK1 gear knob, which is often shown with it.
