JE Pistons forged piston set, four pistons — forged 2618 aluminium with JE's Forged Side Relief slipper skirt and a skirt coating, for the 2.0 litre Theta II turbo. Supplied complete with wrist pins, wire locks and a matched JE Pro Seal ring set.
These are forged race pistons and they need machine work to fit. The block is bored and honed to suit them and the piston-to-wall clearance is set to specification. JE supplies the full specification with the set, and that is what your machinist works to. Budget for that work when you plan the build — these are not a part you drop into a standard engine over a weekend.
Fitment: Hyundai Veloster N 2019-2022, Elantra N 2022-2026 and Kona N 2022-2023 — 2.0L Theta II turbo. JE cuts this piston at a 30.00 mm compression height on a 22 mm pin for the stock 146 mm rod and 86.0 mm stroke, which are the factory figures for these engines. We sell it for these cars on that basis and on our own engine-building experience with them.
JE make this piston in more than one bore size. Tell us what your block measures, or what your machinist is planning, and we will make sure the right one comes.
This is a full-floating pin. Check that your rod small ends are set up for one. If you are running the factory rods, have them measured first — they may need bushing or honing, and that is more machine work to budget for.
Running more than about 2 bar of boost? A reinforced piston pin is the accepted upgrade at that level and is a separate part. Tell us your target and we will specify it with you.
About compression ratio. We deliberately do not print one. The dish volume is a property of the piston and is given below, but the ratio your engine finishes at depends on your cylinder head and head gasket — any figure quoted on a box assumes a stock-thickness gasket, so a thicker one changes it. Tell us your build and we will work it out with you.

Have the piston-to-valve clearance checked at assembly. JE does not publish valve pocket or crown geometry for this piston, and these engines are direct injected and tight. Clay-check it on the bench before the engine goes together.

First let's preface I have tried three other tuners. Not bad mounting or name dropping as they all were solid tunes. But Daniel just has that magic touch when tuning the 1.6 platform.
The car has a buttery smooth power band making the car feel like a larger displacement six cylinder over a turbo charged car. Plenty of fun to be had at any speed or RPM range.
He will take the time to get you dialed in perfectly for your car. No canned tunes here folks. And if you are a EK1 user three tunes for the price of one simply can't be neat.
I received the Stage 2 tune. Here are my thoughts:
- The shifts are buttery smooth
- I love the auto shift @2000rpm when cruising around town; saves me an extra 2-3mpg overall
- Driving in traffic is a dream now, much better than stock. I don't even hear that annoying shifting fork anymore, lol
- Any and all DCT slips are gone
- The increase in torque limit! This opened up my N75 Stage 3 ECU tune; I can feel the difference. The last time I dynoed, I got 289 lb-ft of torque. But it feels much more substantial than that!
- The clamping force is unreal. I did a run from a dig, and it hooked and slammed through the gears all the way to 7k rpm in each gear. Amazing.
Conclusion: This TCU tune is a must-have. If you have an N75 ECU tune, it is an absolute game-changer! Especially with the Redline MT-LV fluid that I'm running. I can't wait to get my retune with water meth injection. Daniel and the rest of the N75 team are the best!
