Fits: 2021+ Hyundai Elantra N Line, 2021+ Hyundai Kona N Line, 2021+ Hyundai i20 N, 2021 Hyundai Sonata 1.6T (Gen 4), 2021 Kia K5 GT Line 1.6T, 2021+ 1.5T variants sold in South Asian and African countries, and any other CPEGD3.20.1 or CPEGD3.20.2 ECU; 1.6T Smartstream, CPEGD3 ECU.

What this is

A two-stage ECU calibration for the Hyundai/Kia 1.6T Smartstream (the Gen 4 1.6T Gamma) and its CPEGD3 ECU, developed in Canada by N75 Motorsports: 15–35 whp over stock, depending on the stage. Delivered as a file for your EK1 device or our PC-based flash tool, or flashed onto the ECU you send in.

From the ECU data, the stock calibration requests a peak of 3 degrees of ignition timing at 6000 RPM and 0 degrees at 5000 RPM, and its boost maps are conservative for this turbocharger. Boost and ignition timing are where most of the gain in ECU tuning comes from.

Tune options

Option Target and output Required mods and fuel
Stage 1 2–3 psi over stock (17–18 psi request). 15–20 whp gain. Torque request, limiters and monitoring raised; ignition timing added for premium fuel; AFR optimized. Premium pump fuel.
Stage 2 22 psi request from the ECU. 25–35 whp gain (20–25 whp on the 1.5T). Everything in Stage 1 plus component protection altered per vehicle and mods, max wide-open throttle, altered warm-up and cool-down, VVT optimization. Ignition timing is added for premium fuel only; E30 blend or WMI suggested. Component protection and the calibration are adjusted to the mods you list at order.

Choose Stage 1 for a car on premium pump gas, and Stage 2 when you can run an E30 blend or WMI and want the full boost and VVT work. We suggest keeping boost around 20–21 psi on this turbo and do not recommend 23 psi.

Options explained

  • Vehicle: Kona N Line, Elantra N Line, Kia K5 GT Line, I20N (i20 N) and Sonata 1.6T Gen4 are the 1.6T cars listed above; 2021+ 1.5T covers the 1.5T variants sold in South Asian and African countries. Any other CPEGD3.20.1 or CPEGD3.20.2 ECU is also supported: check the ECU label and email it to us first.
  • Add Flash Tool: No: you already have your own EK1 or our PC-based tool, or will send in the ECU. Yes - EK1 Mini2+ adds the EK1 Mini2+ OBD flash and logging device; EK1 users also need the CPEGD3 bench kit to flash this ECU (separate listing). Yes - N75 Motorsports Laptop Tool adds our PC-based flash tool.
  • Crackle and pop: on request on either stage.
  • Raised idle: Sport or N mode only; on request on either stage.

How it works after you order

  1. Choose your Vehicle, Stage and flash-tool add-on; note crackle and pop or raised idle in the order notes.
  2. If your car is not listed, or you want to send in your ECU, email info@n75motorsports.ca before ordering: send the ECU label, or ask for the send-in shipping instructions.
  3. We deliver the file for your EK1 through our tuning portal or for our PC-based flash tool, or flash and return your ECU.
  4. Calibration updates are included for the first three months after purchase.

  • Boost: 17–18 psi request on Stage 1, 22 psi on Stage 2.
  • Both stages: torque request, limiters and monitoring raised; ignition timing increased for premium fuel only; AFR optimized.
  • Stage 2 only: component protection altered per vehicle and mods; maximum wide-open throttle; altered warm-up and cool-down; VVT optimization.
  • On request: raised idle in Sport or N mode only; crackle and pop.

How we tune

We developed this calibration for over 18 months before release, and our CPEGD3 mappack has over 1,000 maps. The world's fastest Kia Forte GT runs our tune. Its CPEGD2.20.3 ECU is the most similar to the CPEGD3, and we have developed it since 2019. The 2020 Hyundai Veloster Turbo 1.6 runs the same ECU. Our own i20 N in Europe gained 30–35 whp. Comparing this turbo with its other three generations, we set a boost level that makes good power and still allows good ignition timing, for a stronger powerband.

Before you order

  • Fuel: premium pump fuel on Stage 1; ignition timing is added for premium fuel only; E30 blend or WMI suggested on Stage 2.
  • Oil: Motul Power 5w40 is recommended on every N75-tuned Hyundai and Kia; it sustains the higher temperatures of a tuned engine, an extra step to keeping it healthy for years.
  • EK1 users: the CPEGD3 bench kit is required to flash this ECU with an EK1.
  • Unlisted cars: email us the ECU label first.

FAQ

Do I have to send in my ECU?

No. We deliver a file for your EK1 device or our PC-based flash tool; to send in the ECU, email info@n75motorsports.ca first for the shipping instructions.

How much boost does Stage 2 run?

Stage 2 requests 22 psi from the ECU. We suggest keeping boost around 20–21 psi and do not recommend 23 psi, because the turbo falls off in the upper RPM range and a boost-heavy map stresses it. On the i20 N and Elantra N Line the turbo holds only about 14–15 psi at redline, and ignition timing keeps the powerband smooth when it falls off.

Is my car supported if it is not listed?

Yes, if it has a CPEGD3.20.1 or CPEGD3.20.2 ECU. If it has a newer 1.6 L engine, check the label on the ECU itself and email it to us before ordering.

Can I go back to stock?

The file changes calibration data only, and the car can be flashed back to stock with the same tool.

Use and liability notice

The Stage 2 map is built for the fuel and mods you list at order. N75 Motorsports takes no responsibility for damage where fuel or oil is wrong, mods differ from what was listed at order, or a pre-existing fault worsens on a tune.
